Students celebrate pandemic heroes in stamp designs
Posted: 12th July 2021A celebration of pandemic heroes could see the artwork of a young person from Harlow distributed around the world.
Year 7 and Year 8 students at Sir Frederick Gibberd College are waiting to hear if their stamp designs have been successful in a national competition.
The Royal Mail’s Heroes Stamp Design Competition challenged young people to express their gratitude for pandemic heroes by designing a stamp.
The winning design will be made into an official postage stamp.
Amy Croucher, art, design and technology teacher, said: “Gibberdians are honoured and excited to participate in this competition. It’s an opportunity to show our gratitude for those who worked tirelessly throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
“Students have been attending art and design club during their lunch time to plan and execute their stamp designs.
“The standard of work is exceptional and our students should be incredibly proud of themselves.”
The winning designs will be selected in September.
